Snapshots, promoting and going back
A snapshot is a permanent saved version. Promote a tested one to make it official, or start again from an earlier one.
A snapshot is a permanent saved version made from one or more sheets. It cannot be edited or deleted.
Create a snapshot
- In Versioning, Ctrl-click the sheets you want to include. They appear under Your selection.
- Choose Check composability to confirm they fit together.
- Choose the button that begins Create snapshot from, and confirm in Create Stage Snapshot.
The new snapshot is marked STAGE.
Promote it
When a STAGE snapshot is the version you want to make official, choose Promote. LobLogix warns you: “Promoting this snapshot will create a new production release. Sheets included in this snapshot will be marked as finished.”
Admins and Editors can promote.
What Stage and Production mean here
In Versioning, STAGE and PROD are labels on saved versions. They are not running systems. Promoting a snapshot installs nothing anywhere.
Going back
Choose Rollback on a snapshot. LobLogix creates a new working copy from that version. The history in between is kept, so going back is itself something you can undo.
What a snapshot is not
A snapshot saves your specification, checks or blueprint. It is not a copy of the records in a running application.
Names
Use names people will recognise later: agreed-with-finance, before-new-branch-opens. Avoid number-style names that mean nothing to a colleague.
