To put a version to work, you build it, then deploy it to the place where it should run. Building and deploying are separate steps.

This page covers the buttons. For what happens at each step, see How a release works: review, install, verify.

Build

  1. Open Build & deploy.
  2. Under Choose the source, pick the version.
  3. Under Choose where it runs, pick Preview or Stage. Production is listed too. It is not part of the alpha.
  4. Choose Build.

Building prepares the application. It does not install it.

Deploy

  1. Choose the button that begins Deploy to.
  2. Read the review. It names the exact build and the place.
  3. Tick the box that confirms it, then choose Confirm deployment.

Open it

Choose Open app. What opens is the application’s connection point, with pages used to connect a frontend. It is not a business screen.

To try the application yourself, use Ask My Backend: try your application in plain words in Stage.

Follow it

The Deployment tab lists where each application runs, with its health and its history under Releases & activity. See Health and logs on the Deployment page.

Go back

If a new release is wrong, Restore previous release is offered when going back is safe. Records already changed by the new release are not undone by going back, so read what the review says before you confirm. See If a release goes wrong.

Who can do this

Admins and Editors can build and deploy. Viewers can look.

See Preview, Stage and Production.
